GRANDPARENTS SUNDAY

WHAT TO EXPECT ON GRANDPARENTS SUNDAY

THE SONGS OF THE PAST (HYMNS) – We are going to sing songs from the hymn book. We are going to especially see that any songs requested by a grandparent are sung that day. If you have a favorite hymn or you know what your grandparents favorite hymn was, take the time and let Pastor Ava know so that she can see that their song is sung.

RECOGNIZING OUR OLDEST SENIOR ADULT – we want to take a few moments in the service to recognize the oldest grandparent in our service. We want to take a moment in the service to have a short interview with the individual and hopefully hear a story from the pass about the church in its younger years.

RECOGNIZING THE SENIOR ADULT WITH THE MOST CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN PRESENT – We are inviting all senior adults to invited their kids, grandkids, and great grandkids to join us on Grandparent Day. We want to recognize the individual or couple who has the most family members present.

THE CANE DECORATING CONTEST – I don’t know of an individual that loves a cane. To anyone who has to use them it says that they are not as young as they used to be or that they are not as strong as they used to be. Well on Grandparents Day, we are going to let what seems to be a bother a blessing of laughter. We are asking everyone who has a cane that they have used in the past or they are using now to take the time to decorate their cane. At a certain point in the service, we are going to ask all of them to walk their way up the center aisle and stand in the front.

We want to recognize the following cane contest winners:

  1. THE PRETTIEST CANE
  2. THE MOST UNIQUE
  3. THE FUNNIEST DECORATED
  4. THE OLDEST LOOKING CANE
  5. THE MOST COLORFUL
  6. THE SIMPLEST DECORATED
  7. THE MOST CHILDISH LOOKING
