PRAYER WARRIOR MINISTRY

OUR PURPOSE
Our children are some of our most precious gifts — and they deserve to be covered in prayer every single day. The SCN Prayer Warrior Ministry was established to do just that. Through this ministry, dedicated prayer warriors who attend our church are committed to intercede daily for school-age children in our church, from Kindergarten through High School Graduation. Whether they attend public, private, or are homeschoolers, every child is worthy of prayer, protection, and the covering of God’s grace.
” “But I have prayed for you, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Luke 22:32
Who We Pray For
Every school-age child in our church – from Kindergarten through High School Graduation – is lifted up in daily heartfelt prayer. No child walks through their school day alone when our Prayer Warriors are STANDING IN THE GAP!
How to Get Involved
- Commit to pray daily for at least one of our school-age children.
- Attend a Prayer Warrior event when they are available.
- Encourage the parent/guardian of the child you are praying for.
- Be a part of a prayer group that comes together occasional to pray for our kids.
Our Commitment
Our Prayer Warriors are interceding every morning, throughout the day as the Spirit leads, and again at night – trusting God for wisdom, protection, and His favor over every student from their first to the last day of school
MINISTRY GUIDLINES
To ensure the safety and integrity of this ministry, all Prayer Warriors are asked to carefully follow the guidelines below.
SCN MINISTRY TEAM
1. The parents/guardians of the selected student will be provided with their Prayer Warrior’s contact information, creating an open and trusting relationship from the start.
2. Parents/guardians and Prayer Warriors may communicate by phone, text, or email — especially when the student has a specific prayer request that needs immediate attention.
3. Prayer Warriors are NOT to initiate any direct personal contact with their student through texting, calling, or social media. All communication goes through the parents/guardians.
4. We are encouraging the Prayer Warriors to NOT give gifts to their student because this is a ministry that focuses on the spiritual and safety for our students during this school year. However, if the Lord leads you to give the student anything, we ask that you take the gift to Pastor Randall or Pastor Ava who will see that your student receives it. AGAIN, PLEASE DO NOT give money or gifts directly to your student at any time.
5. Prayer Warriors are not to spend “alone” time with their student in or outside of the church at any given time. However, they may attend an event with the family if invited by the parent/guardian. Example: ball game, concert, or other family activities connected to the church or school, but the parent/guardian must be present.
6. If a Prayer Warrior would like to send a card of encouragement to their student, they will need to bring the sealed card — with the student’s name written on the outside — to the church and place it in “The Prayer Warrior Card” box. Our office staff will ensure it is properly addressed and mailed to the student.
7. Every student who participates in the SCN Prayer Warrior Ministry does so with the full knowledge and permission of their parents or guardians.
8. All Prayer Warriors are required to complete a Background Check prior to participating in this ministry. This requirement has been established by the International Church of the Nazarene for all ministries involving minors.
A NOTE ABOUT THIS MINISTRY
The SCN Prayer Warrior Ministry is NOT a mentoring or companionship program – like “Big Brother/Big Sister”. It is a focused, faith-based ministry devoted entirely to lifting our students up daily before the Lord in prayer. These guidelines were thoughtfully developed by our Ministry Team, and we ask every Prayer Warrior to honor them with care and integrity.
